Diffractive Laser Scanner

A high resolution laser scanner for color digital printing which utilizes a combination of molded plastic lenses and diffractive optics to produce grayscale photographic prints. The laser beam is scanned by the rotation of a segmented diffraction grating formed on the surface of a glass disk. This design utilizes anamorphic optics to desensitize the scanner to wobble of scanning disk, source misalignment and laser diode wavelength variations caused by drive current fluctuations associated with the grayscale intensity modulation. This design can be replicated on glass, or fabricated as an injection molded part for low cost production.
